The IAI Safety Award

Safety is of paramount importance to any industry seeking to provide a sustainable and productive environment for its workforce. To celebrate the improvements that have been made in the global aluminium industry, the IAI annually assesses company reported safety data and recognizes those plants and companies that lead the way in safety performance.

Top performers are selected through a multiple stage process, including an assessment of Total Recordable Incident Frequency, Lost Time Incident frequency and Incident Severity Rate, together with improvements on the previous year’s performance. Short-listed plants carry out self-assessment and finally an on-site assessment is completed if necessary to finalise the best performing mine, refinery and smelter.
