The Aluminium Association of India along with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is organizing a one day seminar on the Lightweighting of automobiles through aluminium on 7 August 2013 at Gulmohar Hall, Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India.
The programme aims at bringing all stakeholders on a common platform where they can gain and share knowledge on all relevant aspects of lightweighting technology like advances in design, materials, manufacturing, applications and regulations in the transport industry, finally leading to public-private partnership programs, technology transfers and commercial implementation, with support from government agencies.
Automotive lightweighting is a strategic opportunity for India’s auto sector. OEMs are looking for new materials and new technologies to produce vehicles that are lighter, safer and ecofriendly to achieve the targeted size and weight. Lightweighting with aluminum offers the industry several benefits including the ability to increase payload capacity and reduce fuel consumption.
