Mercedes Choose Aluminium Over Steel

The bodyshell of the new Mercedes SL is made almost entirely of aluminium. This makes the new SL 110kg lighter in body than its predecessor and 140kg lighter than the complete car.

Car manufacturers are continually opting for aluminium over steel in cars due to its lightweight properties.

Aluminium used in transport also reduces fuel consumption and green house gas emissions.
